I Am the Tour Guide Part II

Posted by Jeremy on 26th, 2008

I was worried about being a tour guide of Oahu. What if the people were total assholes and I was stuck with them all day long? What if I was super bored and just didn’t want to be there 30 minutes into our 10 hour trip? Not to mention what if I couldn’t answer a single question about this island (I still know very little.)

Well, everything went great. The group of six were actually pretty fun, so I didn’t have anything to worry about. I haven’t heard so many dick and fart jokes since I was in junior high. They reminded me a ton of my parents college friends whom I still see from time to time: fun loving, hard drinking, and funny as hell. One of the guys was so hung over he had me stop at pretty much every single bathroom we saw, lol.

We stopped at Byodin Temple and a famous shrimp shack (think roach coach with shrimp) before ending up at the famous Sunset Beach on the North Shore. Overall, made about the same amount of money as my normal day job, but got to drive the island and go bodysurfing at North Shore. Not a bad day :)

I Am the Tour Guide

I’m nervous about tomorrow, but it should be an interesting experience. I met a husband wife couple for all of about 5 minutes before they asked me to be their paid tour guide around the island. Having nothing to do tomorrow, I said sure. So early tomorrow they are going to rent a van and me and six strangers are going to take an island tour with me as their guide. Fun? Could be. A disaster? Could be :P I’ll let you all know tomorrow.

On a totally different note, I have met two different people lately who promised to get me on national television as an extra, one show is about an amazing nature spot on Kauai, and the other would be either an extra on a sitcom or reality show. I think that would be fun as hell, and who knows, might turn into a rewarding career and a lot of money :) So I’ll definitely be following up with these two people, and I’ll let ya all know how it goes. Check back often!

Life’s Decisions

Posted by Jeremy on 10th, 2008

Six months ago, I picked up everything I owned and moved out to sunny Hawaii , and it’s been one big adventure. Right decision or wrong? Life is always filled with decisions, some good, some bad, and some that only time will make clear. When I’m old and look back, I’ll be glad I did it, but I still need to decide what I want from my life.

I want this blog to be all about my life, what I want out of it, and where I see myself going. Oh, and a documentary of all my crazy exploits as well :)

Hawaii is one big adventure for me. I love it sometimes, but I hate it sometimes. When I have days off and get to go be a tourist, I love it. Hiking to waterfalls, surfing, snorkling, or just driving around this paradise island is what makes me happy. But when I’m at work, knowing that every single cent I made has to be used to just BARELY pay off all my bills, I hate it. Spinning my wheels big time, but still enjoying the moment.

On the good side, I’ve finally picked up surfing, and am getting to live that Hawaiian dream. Paddling way out into the ocean and hopping on a wave to glide back twords shore just makes me happy, and reminds me why I was so driven to live out here in the first place.

Well, that’s all for now, feel free to leave a comment or ask a question, I’ll try to answer them all :)
