Damn centipedes in Hawaii!

Posted by Jeremy G. on 29th, 2009

I live in an old bug infested neighborhood

Cockroaches, geckos, lizards, and all other kinds of critters are standard fare.   Nothing bothered me and I thought the hawaiian bugs weren’t so bad.  And then I saw my first Hawaiian centipede.   I’ve never seen one in my life before today, and god DAMN are they some freaky little bastards. They are fast as a pissed off snake, with a venemous bite to match.  Here is the picture that proves that they will indeed die after swimming in Raid for 10 minutes.

Look how big this thing was!

I’ve been pretty unhappy with my house for a while, and this is the last straw, I can’t wait to get the hell out of here.

Now every time I step outside, or crawl into bed in the pitch dark, I’m going to be thinking that this centipedes family is waiting for me there, ready to avenge his death! Thankfully I’m soon moving to a new place down in Waikiki, and it’s on the 24th floor. Try to climb up 24 stories… yeah, that’s what I thought, YOU CAN’T (I hope).

New dance move: Stanky leg?!

What the hell is a Stanky Leg?

That’s was my first thought when I heard someone talking about the “stanky leg” the other day.  So I looked around a little bit and found this stanky leg site with all kinds of videos of people doing the move.  I have to say, at first it seems pretty lame, but some people can actually do it pretty well.  It kind of reminds me of the Cupid Shuffle or the C Walk, which if done right can look really cool.  I was also pretty surprised when I did a quick check of home many time “stanky leg” was googled.  Even though yesterday was the first time I’ve ever heard of it, there are 73,000 google searches on average every month.

Unfortunately, after trying myself for a little while, I gave up.  I don’t want to look like these guys out on the dance floor :P

Edit:  Right after I wrote this, I happened to hear the song on the radio for the first time.  So maybe it’s just starting to get popular.  Even though it’s kind of cool for now, I have a feeling that this one is going the way of the Macarena sooner rather than later.  Either way, check it out, it’s at least good for a few laughs when you see the people who totally suck record themselfs and then upload it to YouTube.  What are they thinking?
