Nike+: Actually getting me to enjoy running

Posted by Jeremy G. on 16th, 2009

Here’s some proof:

This is my last 5 runs, all of which were in the last week.  For anyone who doesn’t know what Nike+ is, it’s both a sensor which tracks your speed/distance ran, plus a really full featured website which displays your info in a really cool way.  Check out my Nike+ homepage to see what I’m talking about.  I especially like how you can set up either goals for yourself, or compete with other Nike+ users using the Challenge tab.

I’ve tried to get into shape many times before, but alway found running to be way too boring.  But with Nike+ pausing the music and telling me how I’m doing, it makes it a lot more fun and engaging.  Another app I’m running simultaniously is “Couch to 5k” which is meant to get you from being totally out of shape to running a 5k run (which is about 3 miles) without walking within 6 weeks.

I’ll post a more indepth review of the apps I’ve been using to get in shape, plus maybe some running playlist suggestions later.  It feels good to be getting into shape again!
